Younha (Korean Hangul: 고윤하; only: 高 润 荷; Go Yoon-ha, Japanese Katakana: ユンナ, Yunnan) was born 29 April 1988 in Seoul, Korea, is a K-Pop and J-Pop South Korean singer.

Younha made her debut as a young artist at the age of sixteen. Nicknamed the Oricon comet "for her success in Japan, he has released eight singles and two albums there with varying degrees of success. Some of the songs have been featured in anime and drama series.

Younha has been signed to Epic Records, a branch of Sony Music Entertainment Japan, from 2004 to 2008, after which he moved to Sistus Records, a label Geneon Entertainment. In South Korea, he was to sign the Lion Media and Stam Entertainment.

Born in South Korea to music-loving parents, Younha began playing piano at age 4. He developed his interest in Japan Comedy and began teaching himself Japanese. What began as an interest in Japan developed into an interesting drama in the Japanese music. With the recommendation of an older student at school broadcasting club, she began listening to artists such as Utada Hikaru and obtained Mysia and feel the music for the Japanese. Younha began to dream about becoming a singer he was with favorite artists.


2004 - 2005: Early Career & Moderate Success

ゆびきり (Yubikiri) Era

In order to achieve that dream, Younha began to audition in Korea. He said that he went through as many as 20 auditions. He also commented in an interview that several companies refused to sign him to their label because they believed he was not "pretty" enough, although he sang well.

Once a TV drama producer heard her demo tape, he's single, "Yubikiri", has been chosen as the theme song to enter the Tokyo Fuji TV drama Monday Wankei of Love ~ Destiny ~. In October the same year, she released her first official single, "Yubikiri-version-Japan".


ほうき星 (Houkiboshi) to Go! Younha Era

Younha second single, "Houki Boshi", has been used as an ending song for the popular TV anime Bleach. He became a hit, debuting on the Oricon chart at # 18 and peaking at # 12, and Younha propelled into the limelight. With this one, he became the second Korean after BoA, to the damaged Oricon chart of the top 20. between "Touch / Yume no Tsuzuki" and "Houki Boshi", he released "Motto Futari de". It flopped and only reached # 117 on the Oricon Charts, perhaps due to lack of promotion. He later single, "Touch / Yume no Tsuzuki", debuted at # 15, and peaked at # 11. After releasing five singles, Younha released their first album titled Go! Younha. It reached # 10 on the Oricon weekly chart.


2006: The struggle and the Korean Debut

手 を つない で (Te wo Tsunaide) for 儚く 強く (Hakanaku Tsuyoku) Era

"My Lover" is a re-cut one from Go! Younha, her debut album, and re-cut as the theme to the videogame Bleach GC: Tasogare Ni Mamieru Shinigami. He was limited to 70,000 copies and flopped, selling only about 2000 copies and is ranked # 58. Due to limitations of printing, however, it has become rare and very precious to her fans. Younha also choose to sing the ending theme anime Jyu Oh Sei (獣 王星). The only, "Te wo Tsunaide" a little better than "My Lover", peaking at # 50.

"Ima ga Daisuki" (今 が 大好き) has been released, with more live performances of "Te wo Tsunaide." That ranks him second worst single, at # 71. "Ima ga Daisuki" is also used as the theme song for the animated Jang Geum's Dream while the b-side "Inori" is used for animation of the song ends.

Younha Korean digitally released a single entitled "Audition". The single contains "Audition (Time Rock 2)", a pop-rock song and "Waiting" (기다리다), a song. Although it has been released as a digital single, very limited hard copies of the only ones available as well. Many performances of this song that appears on Korean TV. The single received a lot of promotion and as a result, "Audition" charted for over 3 months in the Korean charts.

Younha once again chose to sing a theme song for the anime Kiba. The song "Hakanaku Tsuyoku" (儚く 強く) has been used as a second to open the event. The single was released on January 17, 2007. Unlike her other singles, "Hakanaku Tsuyoku" only has 3 tracks.

2007 - 2009: Big Success in Korea & Back in Japan


고백 하기 좋은 날 (The Perfect Day to Say 'I Love You') Era

Exactly two months after "Hakanaku Tsuyoku", Younha returns to Korea to release its first album entitled Korea 고백 하기 좋은 날 (Gobaekhagi Jo Eun-nal, translated "The Perfect Day to Say I Love You"). The album was a success, peaking at # 1 on the charts. Promoted the first song of the album is "비밀 번호 486" (Bimilbeonho 486, "Password 486"), where he won the award twice Mutizen SBS Inkigayo. Promoted the second track is "연애 조건" (Yeonaejogeon, "Love requirement"). He made the music video for "비밀 번호 486", which stars fellow Stam artist Yoon Ji-hoo. This video features lots of pictures for Younha change. This album also features a collaboration with Wheesung.

On July 14, 2007, Younha came in Korea GomTV MSL Grand Finals (a Starcraft tournament) and performed the ceremony.

In 2007 MKMF held on 17 November 2007, Younha won Best New Solo Artist award.


Younha Vol. Album 1.5

With increasing success, Younha released a version of Go! Younha rerecorded in Korea. Album, tracklist with the changes, entitled 혜성 (Hyeseong, "Comet"), and was released on October 23.


Back To Japan in half from 2008

On January 18, Younha left Korea to pursue a music career in Japan. He released an album Best Of Japan / music video DVD, SONGS-Teen 's Collection, on March 26. He also re-released her very first Korean single "Audition" on March 14 as offline CD. Seoul Records is to limit the number of "Audition" for 10,000 CDs.


Second Korean Album: Someday

On August 28, 2008 Younha released her second Korean album, Someday, which consists of 17 songs including two instrumentals. It features the hit single "텔레파시" ("telepathy") and the second along with a tableau he called "기억 (" Memory ") (Rap Mix)".

A Japanese version of "기억 (Rap Mix)", entitled "Kioku", has been used as the ending theme for the anime Rideback.


Third Album

He's highly anticipated third album Part A: Peace Love & Ice Cream has been released on 16 April 2009. He has a cuter, more girly pictures Younha as he transforms into a fresh image for the new album.


Operator after the third album

Younha announced that he will be releasing a new album after her third album Japan Korea, Part A: Peace Love & Ice Cream. Younha also completed the first full-length movies Japanese movies, "今度 の 日曜日 に" (Kondo Nichiyoubi no ni, this Sunday) which was released in April 2009. He has also produced a song for the movie called "虹 の 向こう 側" (Niji no Mukougawa, On the other hand the Rainbow) and has been released as singles.

He will be releasing a single that is right for Japan on July 22, 2009, entitled "Girl"
