biography
Originally named J Soul Brothers, the dance-vocal group was made up of 4 performers HIRO (leader), USA, MATSU, MAKIDAI, and vocalist SASA. In October 1999 they released their first single, J Soul Brothers, and two more in 2000. But in the spring of 2001 SASA announced to leave the group. On August 24 they played their last performance with SASA. This show was also the debut of two new vocalists, ATSUSHI and SHUN. The group changed their name from J Soul Brothers to EXILE.

In September 2001 EXILE released their first single, Your Eyes Only, and in June 2002 their first album was released: our style.

In september 2004 the group released an album called EXILES. This album includes 10 songs by EXILE and 8 songs by EXILE's extended family, artists such as COLOR, Kiyokiba Shunsuke, RATHER UNIQUE and NEVER LAND. They are mostly solo projects of EXILE members, and are collectively known as EXILES.

EXILE covers several songs from J Soul Brothers. And it’s funny to know that the song that made them famous, Choo Choo TRAIN, is actually a song by ZOO, HIRO’s old group.

On March 29, 2006, EXILE's 4th album ASIA was released. On that day, SHUN officially left the group to continue his solo career under his real name, Kiyokiba Shunsuke. This was considered the end of EXILE's Stage One.

Stage Two began on June 6, 2006 when they added AKIRA from RATHER UNIQUE to the performers team. It was also announced on the same day that a public audition will be held in 6 Japan cities in search for the group's new vocalist. The final audition is called "EXILE Vocal Battle Audtion 2006 ~ASIAN DREAM~", in which three finalists and 2 professional vocalists: Nesmith and TAKA from COLOR will compete to become ATSUSHI's new partner in Nippon Budokan on September 22, 2006.

After the fierce competition, it was decided that TAKA will take up the post as the new vocalist for the band.

Within the first half of the year 2007, they have already released one album and three singles. Highly active, there will be yet another released in August, 2007. Their new single Toki no Kakera will be awaited with high expectations.
