Just a few days ago, it was revealed that SOPHIA keyboardist Keiichi Miyako (38) has been diagnosed with lymphoma and will be taking a break from the band to undergo treatment. It has now been announced that Miyako had already formed a new band called Rayflower with four other musicians.
In addition to Miyako on keyboard, the group consists of former L'Arc~en~Ciel drummer Sakura, BULL ZEICHEN 88 bassist Ikuo, former Λucifer guitarist YUKI, and Strobo vocalist Takayuki Tazawa.
The band has already recorded its first single, “Uragiri no Nai Sekai Made,” which will be released as a double A-side with “Aoi Ito” on May 26. “Uragiri no Nai Sekai Made” will be used as a theme song for the anime series “Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru,” which begins airing next month.
The group was planning to hold their first live performance this summer, but that may change due to Miyako’s illness.
